I make popcorn 3-iv times a week in our household---I have had Orville Redenbacker Stir Crazy poppers (5 of them) for years- at least since 1980- but the last 2 I have gotten I have HATED!! You are correct the erstwhile ones were dryer and fabricated the popcorn crunchy.--They new ones are T-Due east-R-R-I-B-50-East!!. The popcorn is so soggy and not worth the coin-- DO Non GET THIS POPPER!

I ain the "older" version of this popper and have super luck with it. I apply 3 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (or peanut cooking oil) with slightly over one-one-half cup of yellow JollyTime popcorn. (We have tried others but take the best luck with this brand.) We put the oil in the base with ONE GRAIN of popcorn. Hello - this answer is for new buyers after ten/nineteen/2016. The popcorn can become slightly moist or soggy if you leave the read cap on while poppy. Remove the cherry-red cap while popping in order to release the moisture. Another tip is to use Flavacol Coconut oil for moving picture theater sense of taste. Regular vegetable oil leaves a bad taste. I use 2 tablespoons with ane/2 loving cup of orville'due south popcorn and flavacol seasoning salt. Information technology definitely isn't soggy. I usually use about 5 - 6 tablespoons of canola oil with ane cup of yellow popcorn. After it pops I immediately salt it and put some sugar on it to taste and it is really good. I recommend it myself.
